Focused & Driven: Kiefer Crosbie's Quest For Titles

Focused & Driven: Kiefer Crosbie's Quest For Titles

If there is one fighter who stands out at the BAMMA Ireland events and at his gym at SBG Ireland, it’s the co-main eventer Kiefer ‘BDK’ Crosbie. With an intense fire in his eyes and a 1000 mile stare that would intimidate the toughest, Crosbie is far more than your normal fighter. Taking on Josh “Power” Plant at the 3Arena, Dublin on Saturday May 12th, BAMMA.com sat down with Kiefer whilst he was taking a break from training to get an insight on what’s to come.

Kiefer you’re an intense individual especially in the build up to fights, where does that come from?
You call it intense, I call it focused. You won’t find a fighter more laser focused than me.

How did it all begin for you in MMA?
I started kickboxing/traditional martial arts at a very early age and have been fighting my whole life in one way or another.

Fighting out of a gym like the world renowned SBG, does that come with any extra burden especially when fighting at the 3Arena?
Of course not, SBG is one of the greatest gyms in the world and I'm very grateful to learn and represent my team.

You had your second pro fight at the 3Arena, what was that like?
Deadly, the 3Arena is some spot and I’ve been dreaming of fighting there my whole life and I made it a reality through hard work.

Now you’re fighting in the Co-Main event of a BAMMA event and the top billed Irish fighter on the night, does this add an extra pressure at all?
Pressure is for weak minded people, I’m too focused on my goals to feel any pressure.

Josh Plant is coming to make a big statement at your expense at BAMMA 35, where do you see his weaknesses?
I don't see him. I don’t see any of these people. This is about me. On May 12th you will witness greatness again and I will take another step forward.

So where to after the Co-Main event at BAMMA 35 for Kiefer ‘BDK’ Crosbie?
WORLD TITLES. I’m already a World Champion in my mind I’m just missing a belt around my waist.

And with that Kiefer was straight back to training with his trade mark drive and focus. He left one parting shot for those who still weren’t sure...

“On May 12th I will prove yet again why I am one of the greatest fighters to ever come out of Ireland”
